rimmel scandal eyes retro glam mascara

| On

About a month ago, I wrote a post about Rimmel's Scandal Eyes mascara which I do actually like. Rimmel have adapted the original and keep releasing different versions with a different selling point but sticking to the thick tube. This means it is still in same shape tube but instead gives a different look.
In the retro glam mascara, you get 12ml which is slightly more than normal I'd say, it's black and white packaging certainly gives it a retro look as well. However the mascara itself I find that some days when I apply it the curved brushes manages to get all more lashes and lengthen them but there's a fine line between looking good and applying too much. This means that with this mascara I find it easy to cross that boundary and apply too much and land up with clumpy lashes (and when your me judging my day by how well my eyelashes look it means I've had a lot of bad days recently!).
I really do want to like this mascara, but I just can't get it to work for me and I much prefer the original but if I can I would like to try the other versions too.

rimmel wake me up foundation

| On

I fancied a change from my trusty maybelline stay matte foundation, although it gives me the best coverage and looks natural on my skin I though that for everyday wear it was a bit too much. I guess that's why I decided to try the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation, this foundation isn't new it's been around for ages really but here's my thoughts.
The packaging itself is a solid glass bottle with rimmel embossed down the side, that holds 30ml of product, the standard amount. The pump itself is easy to use and lets you just get the right amount of product out, and the lid firmly attaches so it's will be no issue when travelling and on go. The product is described as a foundation that visibly reawakens and illuminates the skin with a radiant glow and a flawless, natural looking finish. Instant ant-fatigue effect. With pepticies and a Vitamin Moisturising Complex. As it is a liquid I find it's easiest to apply it with my stippling brush and blend it into the skin, this means that the coverage is build-able and I usually settle for a light coverage. As it is meant to awaken skin it contains glittery particles (explaining why the orange lid sparkles) which I'm not too sure how I feel about because I'm worried that if I didn't use powder on top then my face would be actually glowing. I'd say with a primer underneath and powder on top this would last all day, but only 5-6 hours without.
Overall, this foundation feels moisturising on my skin which is especially nice in the cold winter weather and I would recommend it if you're looking for something with a lighter coverage rather than a full coverage to use on good skin days.

rimmel scandal eyes mascara

| On

Rimmel seem to keep bringing out different versions of their Scandal Eyes mascara at the minute but here's my thoughts on their original. I'm lucky that I have quite long lashes, but for me mascara is the most important part of getting ready, I hardly every wear false lashes which means I rely on mascara to do the job for me.
Firstly, it's in bright orange packaging, with faint glittery bits if you look really closely, it's a bold colour, probably wouldn't be my first choice but it does make it stand out in my basket, meaning it gets its fair share of use. Also it's on the big size for a mascara, as it contains 12ml of product. On the packaging Rimmel's description says "no lash can escape! Scandalous volume, no clumps!". For a mascara no clumps is pretty big claim, so I was intrigued.

The big brush means it collects collects lots of product making it quick, easy and smooth to apply and immediately adds volume to my lashes. Though less is definitely more as I have to be careful not apply too much as it does tend to clump. however I only use it lightly on my bottom lashes but that's just a personal choice, I don't like them being too long and spidery. Also it lasts a whole day, without crumbling under my eyes or giving me a panda look, and isn't too stubborn to take off at night.
Overall, I'd say this is a good mascara, it's cheep and adds volume and length but doesn't always define each lash. Next time I'd like to try another version of Rimmel's Scandal Eye's mascaras.
