bourjois healthy mix foundation

| On

So my product for this month has been the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation, mines in shade no. 52, Vanille. Previously I've been using the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation (you can read my thoughts on this here), initially I really liked this foundation but then I changed my mind and keep thinking that the shade is too dark and orange for me. I have used the Bourjois Healthy Mix powder and concealer and loved both so I think that trying this foundation is long over due!
So firstly, there's a lot about this foundation on the beauty bloggers sphere, so I had high expectations, and at about ten pounds it's not the most expensive foundation in the world. You get the normal 30ml of product, in a class bottle -even though the caps are plastic they're still chunky and feel sturdy and not flimsy making it feel like a "solid" product and subtle for travelling.
Now on to the product itself, its a lovely light foundation which feels refreshing on the skin. It has quite a runny texture so I find it's best to apply it with a stippling brush but it blends easily into the skin to actually give a healthy glow! so does live up to its name there. This is a typical thing to say but it doesn't feel thing or look cakey so you genuinely forget you're wearing foundation. On a side note the fruity smell is not overpowering so you're not concerned that your face smells funny all day! The only downside to this foundation is the staying power, so I think I need to try it with a primer or I'm not applying enough product - any tips on how to make this foundation last longer would be appreciated.
Overall, I do really like this foundation, we'll have to see if I can make it too the end of the bottle before deciding that I don't like it any more.

leavers ball

| On
It's official, I've left school! Which I think is a big point in anyone's life and to mark the occasion I had my leavers ball on Friday so I thought I'd share the products I used to help anyone else out if you're stuck.
For my hair, I curled it using my Baybliss Boutique curling wand which gives large waves which I find works best for my thick and long hair and then I just pinned the front and top sections up to keep it  out of my face, to keep it secure I used Tresemme Freeze Hold hairspray, which I would recommend to everyone as it keeps curls in all night but does't give your hair the crispy look or feel. My dress itself was quite simple with an embellished waist but I really liked!
Now on to make up, for the base I used Benefit Porefessionals for my primer, and then the trusty Maybelline Dream Matte mouse and Bourjois Healthy Mix powder. These are all products I love and so trusted to get me through the next. For Bronzer I used the Bourjois Delice de Poudre and my Body Shop Baked Blush in Shade 2 Coral, even though I use this constantly it's yet to be dinted!
Then on my eyes, I used one my urban decay samples, and I used Eden to compliment the shadows that I used from the Naked 3 Pallete. The shadows I used were dust, limit, nooner and liar these aren't the most dramatic colours in the pallete but I wanted a simple and subtle eye but not too boring. To finish this off I linked my eyes with the Rimmel Glam Eyes Liquid Eyeliner and finished the look off with some false corner eyelashes (which I wasn't used to wearing and they made me blink quite a lot!).
Finally I used the Maybelline Colour-sensation Lipstick in Sweet Pink, which is a natural pink lip colour with a slight shimmer.
Phew! so many things to remember then, so I hope if your stuck for good make up products for an upcoming summer event such as ball, prom or even a wedding I hoped this helped!

bourjois colour edition in Or desir

| On

So this is product I've heard very little about, and I picked it up with the initial thought of using it for my ball make up, however now I've had a change of plan. Anyway so I've brought the Bourjois 24H Colour Edition in the shade 02 Or desir, which is a lovely gold colour. At first I assumed it would be similar to the maybelline colour tattoo but it is completely different. This is a cream to powder texture and fills completely different when you're applying it. Still it applies just as easily and brightens up my eyes, it's a quick easy eye make up, particularly useful when I'm running late.
As my (attempted) swatch shows it is quite pigmented but it no the boldest of colours which does help make it an easy look that is simple but will still go with everything. The negatives about this product is well it's not so much a negative but I wouldn't say that eye shadow stays on for 24 hours but it pretty much lasts me a full day so I'd say that's good enough for me. Secondly, it the plastic packaging, this isn't a problem as it doesn't affect the actual product but the other make up brands similar products are all in glass pots and so I feel that when you compare it to them the packaging just feels a bit cheaper.
However packaging a side, I really do like the product, it's such a lovely colour, and is quick and easy to apply looks lovely even when you just wear it by itself.

revision revision and more revision

| On

So exam season has started and mine doesn't officially start till Monday, and then I have a whole month of them. That means things on my blogging front have gone a bit quiet and will probably continue to stay quiet until I'm done, or until I've given in with my exam results.I will post a few posts here and there but once my exams are done I plan to make regular posts and get back into blogging. I keep thinking up new post ideas half way revising a topic!
Also, good luck to anyone else who has exams and are stressing with exam season, remember to take a few little blogging breaks here and there! But now its back to stressing and cramming for me!

my favourite nail combination

| On

When it comes to nails, I love changing colours and I have a pretty big nail varnish collection, however I'm rubbish at making them last and they can rarely last a few days without them chipping. Anyway I thought I'd shade this combination as it's so soft and subtle it lasts at least five days before it chips but at a first glance you wouldn't even noticed they'd chipped.
The first nail varnish I use is the Maybelline Forever Strong Pro in Rose Poudre which is a soft neutral pink, but not too bright so it's not quite a pastel shade. I love this colour as it's so gentle and not too bold it goes with everything and looks lovely. Then on top of this I use the Bourjous 1 Seconde innovation in Shade 4, which is just a clear varnish with soft pink tone and sparkle to it. I use this as a top coat over the Maybelline varnish and it just makes my nails look prettier. Also I wouldn't say this is definitely a one second dry polish but I'd say it would definitely be try within 10 seconds so that's not pretty bad at all. I know there's so many different varnishes in the world you can be forever discovering new combinations but for the last six months this has a been my favourite and I think it's perfect for spring!

product I'm trying this month: bourjois healthy mix foundation

| On

It's May already?! Where is this year going and just on this topic my exams start this month which will explain why I'm not posting much, well I plan to be revising but that might not be happening. Anyway the product I'm going to be trying this month is the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation, I'm excited to try this as I've used both the healthy mix concealer and healthy balance powder and loved them both! Also this is foundation that keeps popping up on the blogging world and so it's worth a try! I'm still looking for my perfect foundation, I was using the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation but recently I've decided I don't like it as much as I used to and it just hasn't been agreeing with my skin and just making look a bit sparkly if I'm honest. Anyway I'm excited to use this foundation and I'll share my thoughts at the end of the month.
