maybelline superstay better skin concealer

| On

Concealer is something I rarely mention on my blog, I tend to just use one until it runs out really. Though over a month ago in London I forgot to bring my concealer and had to make a quick trip to Boots in order to pick one up. There wasn't really much choice at all so I picked this one up just because I trust maybelline products and they're not too pricey, so if it doesn't work out it's not a big loss. You get 11ml of product and in an easy squeeze out tube which makes for an easy application, however not so easy when it starts to run out and you spend ages squeezing the tube trying to get the tiniest bit of product out, but initially it's a good packaging design. Also colour shade wise there isn't the biggest selection, in the tube it looks quite dark and orange however it does blend nicely out to match my skin tone. Though linking to the name superstay and better skin I don't really agree with either. I feel that when first applied the coverage is good but is still noticable that I'm wearing concealer so doesn't give the most natural look. I don't mean that it doesn't blend in just that it doesn't just look like skin. Then for superstay, I'd say that this lasts 5 to 6 hours but then after that you would need to reapply it, which I  guess is pretty average but using a primer would make it last longer,
I feel mean because this isn't the worst concealer in the world at all and my comments are pretty critical and negative, I just don't think it's as good as the one I've nearly finished, the Bourjois Healthy Mix concealer which is one I would definitely recommend instead.

maybelline eye tattoo in on and on bronze

| On

This maybelline colour eye tattoo in on and on bronze is something that I've been lusting over for ages but kept telling myself I didn't need another eyeshadow but I'm glad I gave in. Earlier this year I brought this in pink gold because I was unsure about the colour and wasn't sure if I'd like the naked 3 pallette but I loved the lasting formula. It's so simple and easy and gives you a complete and put together eye look that lasts all day.
The packaging is a sturdy glass pot and plastic lid, which is perfect, simple yet does look sleek and you can see the colour on the outside so it's easy to identify which one's which when you have more than one. In the pot, the warm bronze colour can look incredibly shimmery and daunting but you can build the colour up to be as intense or as subtle as you want. This is particularly useful as it makes it easy to be a quick everyday eye make up look when you just want to quickly apply something to your lids, put your mascara on and go!
As this is such a natural brown colour you'd be able to use a powder shadow over the top if you wanted to, however I prefer to use it on it's own. I like to apply it using my finger and it's easy to just pat on the lid. I then take a small brush and bring it across my lower lash line; this is something I've only recently started to do but I love the more completed look it gives.
Once again, I'd completely recommend trying on of maybelline's gel-cream eyeshadows as they're so easy to use, on their own or as a base. Also maybelline products will always be on offer somewhere and so for less than five pounds each and on an offer it's a bargain and it'll be a product you'll keep going back to.

maybelline silk glam eyeshadow quad

| On

Before I start this review, I recently brought this from a shop that sells discounted make up but I've recently discovered that Maybelline has changed the packaging and this is still available as part of the Big Eyes range.
So I'm not really sure why I brought this, it's not similar to any of the colours I normally wear, but anyway change is good! and I have actually used this a lot for night outs for a bit more of a bold and exciting eye look. This quad is in shade 12, Grey Pink Drama and is part of the eye studio range. It comes with a brush, which I haven't even touched but it would be useful for quick touch ups or if you're need to travel somewhere with it. Helpfully on the back it numbers each shadow and has a diagram to show you how to achieve a smokey eye. I wouldn't say I follow this but if you were unsure or wanted to try something different it's there.
As you can see from the picture it's in a sturdy packaging that fastens shut, and all the shadows are heavily glitter based. The palest shadow is the largest and is suggested to to be used a highlighter, and this is soft white colour. Then the pink and grey shadows are also both light and are designed to be used on the lid, and the final shadow is the darkest and is the liner. All of these shadows are super soft and blendable however they are extremely sparkly and glittery and not very pigmented which means that when it comes to creating an eye look you have to be expecting glitter! I'm not sure how much I'd use the final shadow as a liner as I'd prefer a matte liner to complete the look rather than to add more glitter. This means that it's not subtle to use everyday but for a night out and with a primer underneath these can definitely create a simple but effective eye look.

maybelline brow drama

| On

When it comes to eyebrows, I'm not gonna lie I'm really lazy and tend to go for the natural 'I just let them grow look' but a few weeks ago my sister recommended the maybelline brow drama mascara in order to tame them and I've been really impressed with it. It doesn't overdo them (which I was worried about at first) but just makes them look neater and a bit fuller, well a bit like I've actually made an effort with them. I have mine in the dark brown shade which is perfect and you can apply as much or little as you want so it's up to you how heavy you apply it. Also the formula lasts doesn't budge so you don't ever lose your brows, I've heard people say that it makes their eyebrows crispy when it dries but I've never had this problem. The brush is small but really easy to use and apply and focus on your brows which means you don't end up with brown marks all over your face! So basically if you're like me and scared of the idea of filling in your brows in case you do them all wrong I see this as a quick and easy way to get shaped and fuller eyebrows.

maybelline eye tattoo in pink gold

| On

My first choice wouldn't have been pink gold it's more likely to have been a light more neutral colour or a dark brown. However I picked this pinky colour because it reminded my of the urban decay naked palette 3 which I've been lusting over but I thought I'd use this to see if I like the colour.
The colour itself is quite soft and neutral and so is easy to wear just by itself for an easy everyday look like I have been doing. I've recently been to Russia for a week and this was the only eyeshadow I took with me and I regret nothing. The shimmer looks daunting in the pot but once applied to the eyes it gives a soft and pretty effect (I have green eyes and I find that the two colours work well together). Even though it is a gel cream eyeshadow I find the easiest way to apply the product is using my finger to pat and gently blend it along the lid, and sometimes I finish it off with some powder eyeshadow on top applied with a brush. Maybelline call it an eye colour tattoo and claim that it will last 24 hours, this is something I sadly don't agree with. If I've been to school and done my make up at 8 in the morning by 8 in the evening it is still there but just not as bold as it is when I first applied it, though I can't be too disappointed as I'm never normally awake for over 24 hours so I'm not really sure why I'd need an eyeshadow to last that long! The packaging itself is sleek and compact, the sturdy glass pot and twisty lid make it easy to travel with and easy to get to the product itself.
I really do like this, and I love the pink tone which has convinced me even more that I should just man-up and buy the naked palette 3 because I know I would get a lot of wear from it. Although I will continue using this product regularly as it doesn't feel heavy on my eyes at all, and if they're on offer I might consider getting more cream or gel eyeshadows in the future.

maybelline baby lips in cherry me

| On

Being a bit behind I've only just recently brought my first baby lips, and because I had read and heard so much about them, it had a lot to live up to!
Firstly, I brought mine in Cherry Me, I thought it was daunting at first in the bright orange packaging and the bright red product. However as it is described as a lip balm with a hint of colour I assumed that if it was too red I could still use as a lip balm (not that I don't have plenty already). Once applied it is moisturising on the lips and gives a subtle tint of red to the lips but nothing too extreme, I found it would have worn off by two hours. As it's so small it's always in my pencil case at school so this isn't a problem at all.
It's sleek packaging means that there is a satisfying click when you place the outer case on top, and also the product itself has a cherry scent. I wouldn't say it's a realistically the smell of fresh cherries but it's not a horrible artificial smell. Actually it's exactly the same smell as a cherry scented doll I had when I was little and so it brings plenty of my childhood memories back to me.

As you can see it doesn't look very different from a regular lip balm on me, still I've found myself reaching for it every morning and as it only has a hint of colour it's perfect to reapply anywhere and on the go though out the day.
Also thank you for reading my first post, I've always been tempted to start my own blog and tried and failed each time but I'm definitely going to keep at it this time, and hopefully I'll get better at writing posts!
