bourjois healthy mix foundation

| On

So my product for this month has been the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation, mines in shade no. 52, Vanille. Previously I've been using the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation (you can read my thoughts on this here), initially I really liked this foundation but then I changed my mind and keep thinking that the shade is too dark and orange for me. I have used the Bourjois Healthy Mix powder and concealer and loved both so I think that trying this foundation is long over due!
So firstly, there's a lot about this foundation on the beauty bloggers sphere, so I had high expectations, and at about ten pounds it's not the most expensive foundation in the world. You get the normal 30ml of product, in a class bottle -even though the caps are plastic they're still chunky and feel sturdy and not flimsy making it feel like a "solid" product and subtle for travelling.
Now on to the product itself, its a lovely light foundation which feels refreshing on the skin. It has quite a runny texture so I find it's best to apply it with a stippling brush but it blends easily into the skin to actually give a healthy glow! so does live up to its name there. This is a typical thing to say but it doesn't feel thing or look cakey so you genuinely forget you're wearing foundation. On a side note the fruity smell is not overpowering so you're not concerned that your face smells funny all day! The only downside to this foundation is the staying power, so I think I need to try it with a primer or I'm not applying enough product - any tips on how to make this foundation last longer would be appreciated.
Overall, I do really like this foundation, we'll have to see if I can make it too the end of the bottle before deciding that I don't like it any more.

rimmel wake me up foundation

| On

I fancied a change from my trusty maybelline stay matte foundation, although it gives me the best coverage and looks natural on my skin I though that for everyday wear it was a bit too much. I guess that's why I decided to try the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation, this foundation isn't new it's been around for ages really but here's my thoughts.
The packaging itself is a solid glass bottle with rimmel embossed down the side, that holds 30ml of product, the standard amount. The pump itself is easy to use and lets you just get the right amount of product out, and the lid firmly attaches so it's will be no issue when travelling and on go. The product is described as a foundation that visibly reawakens and illuminates the skin with a radiant glow and a flawless, natural looking finish. Instant ant-fatigue effect. With pepticies and a Vitamin Moisturising Complex. As it is a liquid I find it's easiest to apply it with my stippling brush and blend it into the skin, this means that the coverage is build-able and I usually settle for a light coverage. As it is meant to awaken skin it contains glittery particles (explaining why the orange lid sparkles) which I'm not too sure how I feel about because I'm worried that if I didn't use powder on top then my face would be actually glowing. I'd say with a primer underneath and powder on top this would last all day, but only 5-6 hours without.
Overall, this foundation feels moisturising on my skin which is especially nice in the cold winter weather and I would recommend it if you're looking for something with a lighter coverage rather than a full coverage to use on good skin days.
